The family’s pride and passion for this coffee is infectious. Walking the farm, Alex and Venilda could seemingly tell you the story behind every shade tree, and the attention to detail in their coffee drying area was impressive. When we did finally taste their coffee, the energy the family pours into the farm is equally clear in the cup.

Our first natural-processed coffee from Ecuador is a pretty special one. Made entirely from the locally grown San Salvador variety, La Cueva is bursting with freeze-dried and jammy fruit flavors, balanced by bright citrus acidity and a creamy sweetness that brings it all together. It's a lively, layered coffee with plenty of personality, and one of the smallest lots we've brought in this year.

A Little Farm With a Lot of Heart

High in the hills above Cariamanga, Ecuador, sisters Venilda and Monica Cueva farm alongside their nephew Alex on a small family plot. While most producers in the region work with other processing methods, the Cueva family focuses exclusively on natural processing, and their attention to detail is apparent at every step. From the stories behind the trees to the care taken during drying, it's clear how much this farm means to them. We're excited to share their coffee for the first time, and hope it's the beginning of a lasting relationship.
